Ever drawn to roles where relationships and long-term growth sit at the heart of success, Michael began his career in London’s commercial insurance market, quickly developing a reputation for building trust with clients, partners, and stakeholders alike. Originally from Australia, he brought with him a grounded, pragmatic mindset and a natural ability to connect with people—qualities that would shape his career across both insurance brokerages and private equity–backed finance businesses.

Working closely with founders, lenders, insurers, and intermediaries, he has built a track record of developing relationships that underpin sustainable business growth. Known for his calm, thoughtful approach and strong sense of ownership, he thrives in environments where credibility, trust, and long-term thinking are essential.

Alongside his commercial career, Michael has developed a strong interest in the role of technology in shaping the future of business. He completed the Artificial Intelligence Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, deepening his understanding of how emerging technologies can enhance decision-making and support more intelligent, scalable organisations.

Outside of work, Michael values continuous personal development, regularly training in the gym and applying the same discipline, consistency, and long-term mindset that underpin his professional approach. He also enjoys landscaping and gardening, finding satisfaction in building something meaningful over time. A proud father of three, he brings balance, perspective, and resilience to both his personal and professional life, and remains motivated by the opportunity to continue developing relationships and contributing to ambitious, growing businesses.

Fun Fact

Lucy was once headed for performing arts school before a last-minute change to study maths. She’s still a huge theatre fan and enjoys attending shows regularly.

Lucy sits in the Transactional Risk Team at Wiispa. Her role is focussed on Warranty and Indemnity Insurance together with Tax Contingent Risk Insurance.

Like many individuals in the market, Lucy didn’t start her career in insurance. After graduating with a degree in Mathematics with Finance, she joined a large accounting firm, where she spent two and a half years advising clients on tax governance and transaction-related tax due diligence.

It was through working on transactions that Lucy developed an interest in the wider deal process and the complexity and problem-solving that is involved. Beyond the technical analysis, she enjoyed understanding how risks influence negotiations and how creative solutions can help bridge gaps between parties.

The move into W&I insurance offered the opportunity to remain close to transactions while building relationships with a broad range of advisers, investors and businesses. At Wiispa, Lucy is excited to help clients navigate transaction risk and contribute to helping transactions progress smoothly.
