Thomas Baker

Tom sits on the Leadership Team at Wiispa. His role is focused on client and insurer relations together being part of the senior broking team taking the lead on transactional risk insurances.

Born into a family of police officers you would have said that Tom was destined for a life in or around the legal profession. Fortunately for the Baker family dynamics his desire to pursue the profession (once his wishes of becoming a professional sports star disappeared) leaned towards M&A and not the criminal bar. He made the voyage of 23 miles west to Liverpool (for his degree) and 16 miles east to Manchester (for his post-graduate) before practising at Shoosmiths in Manchester.

Tom enjoys the “deal craft” in a transaction – looking at problems or issues in a process and then finding the solutions to help get the deal over the line. Prior to Wiispa when the opportunity arose to help establish the only Transactional Risk team outside of London for a large independent broker Tom jumped at the chance. He saw insurance as a chance to provide the potential solution to deal issues and an opportunity to build a business.

Tom is excited to be working alongside advisers, entrepreneurs and insurers to get deals done. Tom sees Wiispa as a fresh new approach to insurance to further assist in the deal making process.

“Look forward and look up”

A family mantra that was instilled by my father and that we try to live by.
